neouf
Dear guys, I've bought used Toyota MPV from Japan fitted with Carrozzeria AVIC HRZ08 in dash navi where the menus and maps are all in japanese, which i don't understand . I heard from other forum that my unit is similar to the z-series. So, is it possible to mod the unit using the Z-series firmware? Or is there any way of converting the language to English? Anyone knew about this.. pls help me, the unit is well functioning and worth keeping it.. Any helps are very much appreciated.
xan
Did you get a solution for this? can anyone else help?
jwq
I don't know for sure, but I doubt you can exchange software between Japanese and US versions. Probably there are internal hardware differences, like the radio. It's not even possible to switch firmware between European and US versions, so I would think the same applies to US and Japanese..... skt3d
Don't think that we (the owner of AVIC HRZ008) don't any luck for that
Hutchwilco
I am also wondering if this is possible ( I have an HRZ88 ). Often for engineering bang for buck, the electronics are all the same internally with perhaps some modular differences, but the micros etc are probably the same. A firmware updater may look for a certain model name when querying the chip before proceeding so this may be a stumbling block. It may be possible to trick or hack a firmware updater to do what we are all asking. I'd like to know more about the normal firmware update process and how it is done - update CD, HDD, all are possible?
