nene503 Posted March 4, 2009 Report Share Posted March 4, 2009 I just recently purchased and had installed an AVIC-F700BT. The unit doesn't switch to night mode when I turn on the headlights. It automatically switches from day to night and back to day at 7PM and 7AM. Why is it doing this? Is there any setting that I can use to change this? I am sure that the shop that installed my AVIC connected it correctly. I have a 2007 Nissan Maxima with the Metra NIRD-01 to retain the temp.d.t.e/ave m.p.g/ave m.p.h. One Bad Stang Posted March 5, 2009 Report Share Posted March 5, 2009 sounds like they didnt connect the illumination wire to the right source. it may need to be run directly to the headlamp switch (this is a common method) to get the right signal. if you decide to do it yourself, your looking for a wire that has 12 volts only when the headlamps are on. and the wire it needs to be connected to is the orange wire labeled "illumination" on the avic's plug.
