chstephens5219
Does anyone know where I can purchase another antenna mounting pad that holds the magnetic antenna? I have to believe there are cheap options out there, thin metal with an adhesive tape. I checked out the pioneer website and they want $8 + $13 to ship (would fit in a 42 cent envelope!). spta97
I have my GPS antenna mounted to a frame bar underneath the dash behind the AVIC. The antenna sticker you speak of is required if you are mounting to a non-metal surface - if you can find a metal surface to mount it to use that and check the GPS signal. I saw another poster state that he is an installer and 90% of the time he sticks it ontop of the AVIC without issue. My signal is fine behind the dash and the antenna is hidden which is key. inches805
You don't even need that pad. I have yet to see an install where the pad was required for increased signal strength. The same was said about XM/Sirius antennas. You don't need the metal backing even when installing these in boats on top of fiberglass. Try it without it.
