tarrier
Hi guys, am new to this forum and hacking my F700BT (Euro version). Only had it a couple of weeks but keen to mod it because of the amount of deficiencies in the software! But that's another story you've all heard several times before... My issue at the moment is step 1 - getting into testmode! I've downloaded the file from here: http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=18977 Extracted MiTACAP and Testmode folders to the root of a formatted SD card (tried several - a 1Gb, 2Gb and 2x 4Gb SDHCs - all with the same result, see below. The unit has been updated to the latest firmware and BT versions). Testmode - Results 1. OK, so with the engine off / unit off I put the SD card into the unit. 2. Switch on ignition. Splash screen appears. 3. After about 15-20 seconds a window appears saying: Error MapDBinfo: 0x1000 < = > Device: 0x0010 AU: 0x0001 EW: 0x0010 RE: 0x0100 UC: 0x1000 Sounds like my DB doesn't expect the map version I have?! Anyway, whatever the cause, I can't get into WinCE and don't know how to correct the error! What am I doing wrong??? Any help would be appreciated...
dumpystig
Open MiTACAP folder on SDCard, go into APL2 > iGO > content > MapDBInfo, and change the 'Area' code to your particular region: AU: Australia EW: Europe RE: Asia (I think) UC: USA/Canada Should be good to go EDIT: your device is Europe, so change UC to EW
tarrier
That sounds all kinds of sensible! Will give it a go... Thanks dumpystig.
tarrier
That worked a treat. Got in to WinCE no probs. Just for my general education, because I've read loads of threads and still not clear, after downloading a mod do I just copy that mod to my SD card (the one with the testmode boot on it) and then copy the individual modded files over, or do I update my backed-up MyFlashDrive on the SD and copy that back? Sorry for appearing dumb. I promise I'll only need to be told once! Can wait to improve this unit...
tarrier
Got it! First mod in (Nav Mute). Reeeeesult! Thanks to all those who kindly spend their time sharing experience and giving instructions to those who know so little...
dumpystig
Glad you're sorted, most of the file copying is pretty easy once you've done it a few times. And you will soon find yourself getting the 'bug'! Happy modding
