ok here is an update...i played around in the files and put the code i was told to use in a few diff ones doing trial and error and i still have the voice prompt....please help...

Wherever you added them you should get them out of there.

krasspc gave you the answer but apparantly you're not grasping it. "The following changes can be made to the sys.txt file located in \APL2\iGO."

Turn on file extensions and you'll see sys.txt listed in the APL/igo folder. Before you do it though, it would be worthwhile to read and study the FAQ before attempting any further mods. The repercussions of not following instructing may leave you with a unit that's inoperable.

Inside the APL2 folder is another folder listed as IGO, sys.txt is on the root of the IGO folder. You should not have a folder named sys.txt anywhere.

Have you read the FAQ? Accessing sys.txt has been discussed in the past. With this message I'm done trying to explain it any further.

i noticed that its a pain in the ass when trying to help somone who doesnt fully understand....and i understand that and see why....but anyway....i have gotten the unit to boot into windows CE mode...but the only .txt file that i can even find is the MapDBinfo.txt file...inside contents...now i have gone thru the process of telling pc to show all the hidden extensions and stuff...and there is still just an iGO folder...with nothing near it...i have clicked around and tried to find the sys.txt in the root or wherever...and no luck...and i have also read everything...and tried finding how to acess sys.txt....and it doesnt seem to explain much from what i found...unless there is more threads that didnt come up....so idk what else to do...id like to get this done...but if on the help forum no one has patience to help...then whatever...ill deal with it...thanks

I think I understand what is going on. The thing is: you will have to copy the file FROM your avic TO your PC, edit it over there, and then copy it back to the AVIC.

1/ boot into test mode

2/ go to flash disk \APL2\iGo - there you'll find the actual sys.txt

3/ copy that to your Storage Card, and shut down

4/ take the SD card to your PC, and edit sys.txt. take a (mental) note of the timestamp

5/ go to the AVIC again, and boot again into test mode

6/ copy the NEW sys.txt to your AVIC (verify with the time stamp you noted)

The second copy process can be "automatigicized" by putting the sys.txt on the SD card in the correct folder

-> :\MitaCap\APL2\iGO

HTH

and sorry if its annoying and if i got a lil pissy...but i honestly have no clue what to do next...im not just trying to break balls or something

You might have tried reading the several hundred posts on this board that describe exactly what you need to do, instead of demanding that people explain it to you for the umpteenth time here.
