AVIC F-7010BT iPhone and steering wheel interface questions

Recommended Posts

New to this forum...Very happy to have found it...

I just bought a used 2004 Cadillac Escalade from a local dealer. The factory-installed navi system screen wasn't working right so the dealer installed a new Pioneer Avic F7010BT to replace it. I want to add an interface for my iPhone and perhaps also a steering wheel control interface. I've been searching online and haven't been able to find answers to these questions:

- Does the Avic F7010BT have a wired remote plug that I can connect the PAC SWI-PS steering wheel control interface into? I'm guessing it does because the F700 has one, but I don't want to spend the money on the controller until I know for sure and I'd rather not have to pull the unit out of the dash to find out.

- Has anyone connected an iPhone 3G to the Pioneer Avic F7010BT using the Pioneer CD-IU230V interface cable? Is it compatible/functional?

Incidentally, my head unit does have the 2.006 firmware version installed.

Thanks!

From my understanding the 7010BT is identical to the 700BT with the exception of a couple non-functional/non-technical differences. I'd assume anything that can be done with the 700BT can be done with the 7010BT, so I'm going to guess "Yes" on both your questions.

BTW, CD-IU230V isn't your only choice for an interface cable. You can use any ipod composite cable (not component!) as long as it has a USB plug and syncs.
