cntrylvr79
2002 Jetta doesn't need a kit to fit a double din radio. The d2 will come with everything you need to fit it into that car.
jimmy303
Yeah, just yoke the pocket out of there and it should fit fine, although VW doesn't give you much room to put wiring in the dash, so be neat. You will need an antenna adapter such as this. http://www.bestkits.com/ViewImage.aspx?img=i/BAA22.jpg
apercele79
sweet...thanks fellas i was wondering how come there exist so many dash kits for all these car makes, but not the jetta thanks!!!
cntrylvr79
Not a problem.Thats what we're here for.
menace1930
i put a d1 in my jetta about a year ago. The cage will just lock in after you pull out the pocket. I have never seen a car besides the jettas that this unit looks so clean in...just like stock. All you will need is the harness and antenna adapter. good luck!
apercele79
thanks, i ordered both the harness and antenna adapter sometime last week, they should arrive any day now i'm giving my sister the D2 (which i bought earlier this month) and im treating myself to the Z1...i hope they will both look as stock as possible
apercele79
i think someone was saying the stereo buttons on the steering wheel become useless (volume and track change) is that the case, or can they be connected to the D-2?
cntrylvr79
They can be connected to the d2, you will need an interface like the pac swi-ps to do that though.
apercele79
nice, thanks a lot bro another 60-70 bucks out of my pocket... but i'd rather use the steering wheel volume keys than the D2
Dubbedown
weird on vw though... b/c both passat and jettas have same double din monsoon yet on my passat, there was a gap between headunit and hvac controls. =T
apercele79
so Dubbedown, all you ended up buying was the wire harness, right? you didnt have to buy a dash double din like i did for my 2003 audi a4? b/c i plan on installing the D2 on my sister's jetta this weekend, and i hope i wont realize in the middle of the install that i should've purchased the dash double din im going by your advice here on avic411, ppl said there is no need for one
jimmy303
As long as you have the metal cage that came with the D2, you shouldn't have any major troubles.
