SFYellow
So many choices on the rear back up camera. Ebay is flooded with wired and wireless cheap cameras from China, etc. Is there a reason to go for more expensive high end cameras that are over $150? Who on this forum had luck with the cheap cameras from ebay? What is it? Thanks.
VBLUE42
The ones on ebay are almost all CMOS cams and they are crap. What you need to look for is a CCD cam. All of the head unit manufacturers are CCD. Most CCD cams start at about the 100 dollar range.
nalaz4
What is the difference between CMOS and CCD cameras??? Regards The ones on ebay are almost all CMOS cams and they are crap. VBLUE42
CMOS is crap and CCD is not. CMOS camras have very poor low light picture quality and poor picture quality in general. CCD cameras have much better low light and general picture quality. Again, Pioneer, Kenwood, and Clarion all use CCD cameras. All compact surveillance cams are CCD. CMOS is the VHS in the DVD age. maddog hoek
I don't know what'll fit. This one's kinda small. http://cgi.ebay.com/CCD-SMALL-EMBEDDED- ... 3ca786ef75
VBLUE42
Any camera will "fit" any vehicle. The best ones in my opinion are the license plate cams from BOYO and are the cameras that a lot of people on this forum have used. The VTL400 is the one that I use and it works great. wiretap
This is the best cheap one I've come across. The build quality is solid. I use it with my vehicle right now. http://www.amazon.com/Audiovox-ACA200W- ... 274&sr=8-1 Picture quality is very good, and so is the night view. It doesn't have IR or anything for night time, but it picks up a ton of light and I can see perfectly when backing up in total darkness. Just the light my brake lights and reverse lights cast is enough for it to work well. I've recommended it to numerous people and they've all said it works perfect for them. nalaz4
I have found this one that says is specific for BMW and is CCD................... http://cgi.ebay.es/CAMARA-VISION-TRASER ... 53dda86b42 What is your opinión??
cacab
CMOS is crap and CCD is not. LMAO Look here! The engineer has spoken. So, you mean a Canon HF 11 is crap (must be crap, because it uses a cmos sensor)?
VBLUE42
Maybe you missed the title of the thread. Were not taking about camcorders were talking about backup cams and my referernce to CMOS as "crap" was to backup cams. My experience is that CMOS backup cams give a significantly less picture image quality then CCD cams do. So, in my opinion for the best cheapest camera option is any CCD over any CMOS. cacab
It doesn't matter, where the sensor is built in. Basically you can say, that you get, what you pay for. Needless to say, that there might be quite good cmos back up cams, but at a higher price. But saying cmos is crap is wrong in general.
