architect2423
I am new to this forum, and I have been looking around trying to find the information I need. I have a 2007 Chevy Silverado, and am interested in installing a Pioneer Navigation unit (between the F700BT or X710BT). There are several iPhone and iPod models out there, and Pioneer has not been very helpful on what will work with the appropriate features. I have an iPhone, and these are the specs listed in the "about" section of my phone are 8GB, Version 3.1 (7C144), Model MB702LL. I also want to purchase the new iPod Classic 160GB (latest model from Apple). My intentions for the iPhone are for bluetooth hands free calling only. Of course I would like to have the contacts transferred over, and have the ability to have voice activated dialing with those contacts. My intentions for the iPod is to have it installed in my dash full time through the CD-IU230V cable. I am not worried about videos, podcasts, etc...just music. I want to have the ability to have voice activated play functions as well. This F700BT is substantially cheaper than the X710BT, and if the above mentioned items will work with it, that is probably going to be my choice. I am of course completely open to everyone's opinion on the pros and cons between the two units. Thanks in advance for your help.
1loudls
they will work fine with either, a lot of smart phones store the contact info in a different way that the AVIC likes to see (commas, hyphens, and all sorts of other weird characters) you may need to modify the contact info from the AVIC before voice dialing will work right but it can be done, and I think you will need to get the Apple composite video w/ USB cable for the newer ipods to be able to charge. heres the thread to modify the phonebook database viewtopic.php?f=34&t=22601&p=152569&hilit=phone+book+edit+software#p152569
architect2423
Why is it hard for Pioneer to say this? They basically said the 3G iPhone V2.2 wasn't supported by the F700BT, I'm guessing as an iPod. But I was just trying to make sure it would work as a phone through bluetooth. And they wouldn't touch the subject with the new iPod, they just kept referring me to the iPod compatibility sheet. Do you know if the new iPod 160GB (in Pioneer's definition) is referred to as a particular generation or as the classic iPod? Have you tested these components together or know someone that has?
