gps does not display speed

Avic 700BT

My gps speed display on the map always reads 0mph, with an ! after it.

GPS works fine as far as directions, and map location is right on. Also when I go over the speed limit the little voice reminds me I am exceeding the speed limit, so it seems to know my speed, just won't display it.

Any at all have an idea how to correct this? thanks

Are you hooked up to your vehicles speed sensor (VSS) ? See page 12 of your install manual found here, http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/Stati ... al0520.pdf

nope, the 700bt does not have a speed sensor

I have the 700bt and if I go under settings.....GPS, it displays my speed and to my surprise is quite accurate.

you're right. I looked in settings, and there was my speed. My prob is on the map, little box on bottom right, has time, dist and speed, but speed always reads zero (0!) with the exclamation point

I've never noticed that, but will look next time I drive.

Resolved..kinda stupid really. Called pioneer tech support (very pleasant) Told me to check settings (nav - visual)

and sure enough, had display set for speed limit, not speed. Changed it, works perfectly.
