05 Mustang w/ F90BT, Subwoofers Suddenly Died On Me

Recommended Posts

I have been lurking here for a few weeks, absorbing tons of information from you guys, but this is my first post. I purchased an F90BT for my 2005 Mustang with the Shaker 500 system a few weeks ago and just recently installed it the other day. This was my first modern stereo installation, being that all my previous installs were on classic Mustangs (totally different beasts technologically). I decided to purchase the PAC C2R FRD1 wiring harness to make things as easy as possible. I also performed the hardware bypass on the unit beforehand. My system is completely stock save for the HU.

Well, all was well at first. I installed the unit succesfully and was thrilled with the performance of the unit, despite the lack of a firmware update. I was getting strong bass from the door mounted subs for the first couple of days. All of a sudden, yesterday I was driving down the road when I noticed a weird popping bass sound coming from the subs. Shortly after, the subs completely stopped putting out any sound at all. No matter how I adjust my EQ settings, I get nothing from the subwoofers. All other speakers continue to work properly.

I have searched thouroughly on this forum and others for similar problems. I see that others have had the same problem on this platform before, but the solutions are numerous and sometimes contradictory. I have heard that the F90BT has a preamp output that is too great for my stock amp, while others disagree. I also have heard of the RCA y connector on the sub input cable. However, I believe my wiring was done correctly, especially since both my subs were outputting great sound for a couple of days. I would just like to know what you guys think is the source of the problem, regardless of your knowledge of the Mustang setup. I have seen so many possible causes in previous threads I am not really sure where I should begin.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Anybody?

Ok, I am still without subs but I have checked a few things and narrowed some things down. I am still getting power to my amps, so the fuse is still good. I have checked my grounds which are also still good. When I disconnected the pin connector coming into my amp from the HU/harness, I checked each wire for any type of voltage that is associated with the amp turn-on (blue/white wire from the Pioneer harness). Should that amp turn-on voltage be readable from tnat pin connector? I got 0V for each wire, so I am not really sure if I should be reading anything or not. What would be the best way to ensure I am sending all the correct signals from the HU to the amps without ripping my dash apart again?

Please help!!!

the amp turn on wire coming off of the AVIC should read 12 volts, if your getting zero, then that probably your problem. try using a jumper wire to go from the red acc wire for the avic to the blue/white wire for the sub harness and see if that fixes the problem
