Customizing the AV screen

Recommended Posts

I recently installed f700 and this forum has been very informative for me. I see great potential in this unit.

On this forum, I have seen a lot of mods for the navigation screen but I haven't seen any for the AV screens. I use Nav only when I am going to some place new. While driving in the city or commuting to work, I am usually on the Disc or iPod screen.

The Disc interface is decent but I want to make it more useful. It has some wasted space, some information is displayed multiple times and some information is redundant.

I want to know if someone has ever tried to mod the AV screens. I went through all the .ui files but didn't find any for the AV screens.

I am not good with programming but can do Photoshop skins for the mod.

If anyone is interested in working on this, please reply to this thread

there are many files that customize the images in the AV screens, but no one has been able to add or modify coding to the AV part of the unit. As far as images are concerned, you need to grab the image.res file and open it in 7zip. Then you will have access to the icons and images for the unit. There have been many members that have customized this part to have a red or blue theme and so on. Just search through the threads for image.res and you will see the numerous designs members have done. Here is a good start from a thread that has a blue theme that abb1 and myself had done. Again there are many others, just search for them. viewtopic.php?f=34&t=27562&start=15

There are pictures from CES:

Very clean; to the point; no information overload.

I liked the splash screen too: http://www.engadget.com/photos/kia-uvo- ... 88#2590596

those are possible except changing what the radio screen looks like. The icons can be changed and you just have to find the bmps and change them to match the ones in your image.res file. As far as the splash screen, look here. Graphic Design/Themes
