Updated Maps

I'm sure this has been asked a million times. I tried searching for 'Update Maps' but the returns didn't address it.

 

Just installed a Z1 into a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4. Love it. Some thiings I'd definitely change about the display (where buttons, icons, etc. are located) but it is working great.

 

Only issue is the map and the fact it didn't have the address of our 11 year old house in it. The factory nav system on our Honda we bought in March did have the house number.

 

How often does Pioneer update them? I registered on their site and asked about this two months ago. No answer from them about when they update the maps.

 

Is there a way to tell which version I have? A site to DL the latest maps? Thanks in advance for any help.

Thats odd that an 11 year old house isn't listed. It probably should be.

 

Anyway in answer to your question, there probably won't be an update until the next version of the nav system is released.

If you have a z1 then it's got most recently updated mapset from poineer. Don't expect and updated map set until march at the earliest. I'm sure when they become availible you'll be able to find pirated copies online. Though the "proper" way to get them would be to buy them.

The street was in the system map, but the street is 25 years old. There are two sets of houses; the orginal and the set from 11 years ago. The addresses were listed oddly .......... in large ranges of house numbers. The numbers on the street have been set, as I said, for 11 years.

 

Are there people on the board with experience updating the maps? Hopefully it goes easily?

Yup, I thought because its the newest model, it'd have the latest maps. How much to the maps run? Pioneer didn't even hint when or if they update them. Are the new maps easy to install? Man, I hate being a newb.

There's no way manually edit the map data, well until they manage to crack the drive but that's another thread. As far as cost and ease of updating. No one can say until pioneer actually releases an updated map set.
