bluest999
Is connecting the VSS wire absolutely required on the AVIC X710BT navigation unit? What are the side effects of not connecting this wire, if I can't find the VSS wire location in my car, or don't want to connect to it? thanks!

Newman
the X710 does not have VSS, the X910 does.
bluest999
Sorry, looks like you are all correct -- I had been looking at a PDF install manual that covered both units, and it was mentioned there. What about the REVERSE GEAR SIGNAL INPUT (purple) wire? Can this be left disconnected if I don't want to connect it in my vehicle, or should it be grounded permanently? I have already moved the mute wire, and will be grounding it along with the parking brake wire, but just want to make sure I don't miss anything else here. thanks!
