Most Japanese cars have an AM amp that requires a turn on led much like an external audio amp. Without this wire connected, you will get very poor or no AM reception at all. I have a z120bt in a '05 dodge durango and even replaced the antenna with an aftermarket one with new cable and all. I've got crap FM signal and NO AM signal.
