AVIC-D2, CDIB100II and Ipod

I apologize if this is redundant. I did a full search and came up with no results that were helpful

 

I have the AVIC-D2, and the CDIB100II Ipod adapter. I had this since 2008

I was using an ipod video 5g 30gb mp3 player.

 

I was able to bypass only using the ipods system control, by holding the pause button at the same time I connected the ipod to its adapter.

This allowed me to use the ipod independently so that I can use the scroll wheel and select songs faster.

I always hated the integrated menu on the AVIC-D2. It was just pretty bad.

 

Anyway, my ipod was recently stolen and since they don't make the 5g edition and i could always go for extra space, I'm looking at the Ipod classic 160gb now.

 

Does anybody have a similar set up, and does the bypass trick still work?

Im hoping i can have the same setup. If i can't then i guess its back to another 30gb ipod.
