FifthGearGT
Hey guys, Not really new here as I have been browsing for quite some time in contemplating what unit to go with. But my question is, if you dont have a reverse camera how essential is the reverse gear wire? Is it really needed for any function other than the reverse camera? Thanks for your help... defiantmofo
you can wire it to the backup lights "usually white" that illuminate when in reverse. If you do this, it should automatically turn on the reverse camera while backing up.
1loudls
if your not using a BU camera, you dont need to have it hooked up, it not gonna make a difference in how the system preforms you can wire it to the backup lights "usually white" that illuminate when in reverse. If you do this, it should automatically turn on the reverse camera while backing up. really, is that how it works? not even close to the answer he is looking for. Titanium3Series
It helps to let the gps know when the car is moving backwards instead of forwards. If you are going to go through the installation of a gps head unit, why not just put alittle more time into it and tap the reverse light so everything is done correctly? Often you dont have to run a wire to the rear of the vehicle. Tap the reverse light wire at the fuse box if you have one in the front interior of the car.

Tap the reverse light wire at the fuse box if you have one in the front interior of the car. it just depends on the car itself, some times its very easy, a lot of times its very hard, and most people dont have access to vehicle schematics and diagrams to be able to find colors and locations, but i do agree that if you can get to it, you should is it a good ideal to have hooked up even with out a camera? YES, will the unit preform well with out it? YES
