rac4avic
Toy Highlander 2006 limited with JBL. Trying to install x920BT with camera. Trying to hook up reverse wire. I've searched and read the answers to where the reverse light is, but I'm still confused. Here's a picture of what I see behind the driver's side kick panel, with an arrow at the only 14 pin connector I can find there. This connector has one pink wire, but no red wires on either side. Can anyone tell me if I'm looking at the right connector/pink wire? Thank you very much!
MisFit
Speed Sense yellow ECM, 2nd plug down, pin 17 The ECM (Engine Control Module) is behind the glove box, it is the module to the left.
MisFit
sorry, disregard last message. i sent you the vss wire. force of habit. thats what most people are looking for. try this: Reverse Light red/black to pink + driver kick, 14 pin plug, pin
rac4avic
Problem is, I just don't see any red/black wires back there and am starting to wonder if I'm looking in the right place. There are other wires further up behind the area pictured, but they're very hard to get to without risking neck/shoulder injuries!
MisFit
you could always just go directly to the reverse light itself
1loudls
you could always just go directly to the reverse light itself when all else fails ^^^^^ you have to go there anyway for the camera itself
1loudls
i would think that all of those harnesses are for things in the door (power windows, door locks, power mirrors...) since they go into the body (and usually into the door boot) the reverse wire shouldn't be going into the door (since there are no reverse lights there) unless there is a drivers door module (which does happen) but DDM usually control stuff like security and locks, and the BCM (or similar) handles all of the body lights(disclaimer: usually) long story short, that might not be the right harness, since it looks like it goes into the door, i would look for a harness that goes toward the back of the car, maybe even under the carpet a little bit, that isn't a 14 pin harness lower in the picture on the left correct? do you have a meter, check to see if the pink wire in the pictured harness has the reverse signal
rac4avic
Thanks for the feedback. The pink wire by the arrow in the picture turned out to be the right one. I simply stuck the reverse wire into the little socket with the pink wire and moved the stick to reverse and it came on, so I locked it down with a vampire connector. Works perfectly. The wires from that connection lead to the back of the car. I also fed my camera's wire back along that path. (actually, I fed it forward along the path). Having steel fish tape is key for that part of the process.
