AVIC z1 freezing before and after update

For the last few months my AVIC z1 has been acting up. It started with the cursor on the map page moving off the map. I was able to get around it by selecting a AV page. Over the last few weeks it has been starting slowly and hanging up on the caution page. Yesterday it locked up on the caution page. I tried several resets to no avail. This afternoon i loaded the software fix off the site and the system accepted it and rebooted but it still got stuck on the caution screen. was able to open the unit with the password rest+Disk unld then T. All the test pages worked for the HDD and the touch screen. is there a test for the sensor housing? someone had posted that the sent there unit in for a similar problem and it was the sensor housing. Am i missing something, is there a test for the housing and can i fix it myself? Thanks for the help
