snarfsmojo
I have searched the forum for a few hours and not come up with an answer to this question, so here goes. I purchased a CD-IU50 cable along with my x920 on the advice that the CD-IU50V was only needed if you wanted video from your ipod. I only have songs on my Ipod so I figured the CD-IU50 would work fine. My Ipod shows up on the x920, and I can control it through the head unit, but I get no sound. Was I misled? Do I need the CD-IU50V? If I do need the CD-IU50V, what good is the CD-IU50 cable? Thanks in advance for your help!
mhermann
You were mislead. I think the CD-IU50 worked with some older units. From what I read, the reason for the change in cables had something to do with royalties that Pioneer had to pay apple. But by separating the audio/video signal they got around this. Not sure if this is true, but thatis what I read somewhere. Regardless, that cable will not work.
snarfsmojo
bugger... Well thanks for the reply I'm off to purchase a CD-IU50V!
VBLUE42
I concur but that cable has nothing to do with royalties. That cable is need to work for video so Pioneer built the audio and video into the same cable. The IU50 is for non video units.
