1loudls
why dont you just eject the bad disc and put a new one in, or is the disc drive whats bad?
suburbank2500
Sorry, the hard drive is bad. I wonder if it is a special procedure to install a new one. Thanks
VBLUE42
There is no hard drive in the D3.

1loudls
I have pulled it out so its no doubt about that i have one. How do install a new one if i need. exactly the same way that you took that one out, but just in reverse my guess is that the tricky part is putting the right info onto the new one which might be difficult if the old one is bad is there any chance that your radio is a Z3 instead of a D3? VBLUE42
He has an HD3, not a D3. The HD3 is the Euro version of the Z3. Suburbank2500 in the future please be more careful when trying to relay your units model number.
suburbank2500
Sorry about the misiing info. If i can read the old disk, can i copy it to the new one. ? Or is it locked in any way. Thanks
garrettoomey
The drive is locked, and you would need to purchase an unlock license for about $50 just to access the drive. If the drive is making funny noises, then you probably won't be able to access all the files to copy anyway. You may want to send a PM to this forum member that sells preloaded HD3 hard drives with all software preinstalled: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=33932 The other option is to send the unit to Pioneer for repair.
