Android 2.2 - T-Mobile HTC MyTouch 4G - Pioneer Avic contact sorting help

wow - did the Pioneer ever make a mess of my contact list. I found some older posts here, but none that were recent enough to deal with these newer, Android phones.

Is there any way to make the Pioneer x920 import contacts so they actually make sense?

For example, one contact I have is 'Tony & Joy Kelly'

The Pioneer interprets it as 'Kelly', that's it.

Another is Air Mail Center, which gets converted to 'Center Air'

It's good I'm not friends with too many people with hyphenated last names.

 

Is there a solution to this? Is it a Pioneer thing, an Android thing, or a HTC thing.

Anyone know of any apps? The phone allows me to use one of many contact lists, but no matter which I use (Google, SD card, T-Mobile, Facebook), the Pioneer just imports gobbletygook pretty much. And it omits many names for no reason that I can tell
