IsLNdbOi
Just ordered a Z120BT. Before installing it in my car, is there a way to power it on with a PC power supply so I can check for dead pixels? I've seen it done before, but didn't take notes that time. Sure, you can easily bench-check it. Connect the black wire to -12v and the red & yellow to +12v. It should boot right up. Might also be a good time to do the by-pass and test it before installing it. Then you should be able to play DVDs. You could also easily connect line out audio to a stereo ( I used a desk radio with aux line in), or temporarily connect some speakers. I wanted to make sure it wasn't defective before I wasted the time to remove the stock radio and install the AVIC. Just be very careful that you don't short-out any dangling wires with your power source.
bit_bucket
Yeah to add a few things to this, if you have access to a Radio Shack, you can pick up a 12v DC powersource that plugs into the wall. Some Ham Radio operators use this for powering 12v equipment in their house instead of ina car. Works great and as the previous poster said, do the bypass and check it's operation.
