Mute Wire keeps coming loose on my bypassed Z110BT??

Recommended Posts

Alright fellas, so here is my issue; I did the bypass on my Z110 and everything worked fine for a few days, all of a sudden, I received the infamous message about the parking break lead not being connected. I knew my connection were done right because I double checked everything before installing and I soldered all the connections.

I figured my ground was not connecting properly so I tried it at a different location and the message still kept coming up. Well after looking through the forum and seeing the problems that others had, I figured the connection of my mute wire was not making a solid contact. Well I pushed the pin in as much as I could and tried it out and that was the issue. Problem fixed right??? Not at all, for some reason it keeps coming loose and I already crimped the wire close to the pin because of me trying to push it in so many times.

Has anyone else had this problem, is there a way of strengthening that wire without me having to pull the whole harness out? I figured trying to add solder to it to give it a little rigidness, but it seems risky?

Any advice is appreciated!

launch the pin. take a piece of small gauge wire like 22 or smaller. lightly tin the wire. use a pic to slightly enlarge the pin hole facing radio. insert pull thru and bend over into plastic of plug and insert plug into radio. it will never come loose unless you unplug the harness jim

Take the wire back out and readjust the little pin in the middle so it catches. Then make sure the hole that the pin will go into is a little tight and click it back in. I had this issue but did these things to tighten it.

I was afraid that this was going to be one of the options, I'd have to take apart the dash again since I had soldered all of the connections. I might have to try this though because its a pain not having the bypass work especially when needing to plug in different routes while driving.

All good ideas, I guess I have to take this dash apart regardless, might as well do it right so that I don't have to do this again. I'll let you all know how it works out.

Thanks for your input!!
