chowee21
OK... So I am trying to finalize my install and I am getting frustrated because I have a little bit of noise (static hum & clicking when I press the volume up/down) Here is how I ran my wires: Driver side: power, remote Passenger side: sub RCA Patch, Speaker RCA, & both front speaker wires (i ran the door speaker wire across the dash and down the right side) Here is my wiring set up: Head Unit Power Harness and what each is spliced to “standard†refers to the regular function to function connection from h/u harness to vehicle adapter harness. “Capped†refers to wires not hooked up to anything. 12v battery/Constant (yel) – standard 12v ignition (red) – standard Dimmer (org/wht)- standard Power Antenna (blu/wht) – standard + amplifier remote + antenna remote Ground w/ stud (blk) – standard + h/u parking brake(lr grn) + h/u mute (yel) + chassis grounded Car Speed Signal (pk)- capped Reverse Gear Signal (vio/wht)- capped Parking Brake (ltgrn)- standard + h/u parking brake(lr grn) + h/u mute (yel) + chassis grounded Mute (yel) – chassis ground (avic bypass where pin was moved) Left Front Positive(wht)- capped Left Front Negative(wht/blk)- capped Right Front Positive(gray)- capped Right Front Negative(grey/blk)- capped Right Rear Positive (vio)- standard Right Rear Negative(vio/blk)- standard Left Rear Positive (grn)- standard Left Rear Positive (grn/blk)-standard Is it possible that the ring terminal that is grounded to my chassis isn't enough for all that is being grounded? I window spliced the wires into the main ground wire and used an ultrasonic welder to do that. Should I try to ground each wire individually? Here is some more info when I troubleshot: -Noise doesn't get louder when accelerating -Power is not by the signal wires (the driver side speaker wires does however cross it perpendicularly) -I do have two grounds: one with a ring terminal & one that goes into the factory harness. They are both spliced together. Should I cut the factory one? -I have no service loops. -I didn't have this noise until after I installed the front speakers and the amp wire kit (I didn't have the amp or sub, so I just had the wires and capped off until I got in the amp) -I have isolated the problem away from the amp wiring, so it has to be something with the headunit and the wiring. -I had the headunit install and didnt have this noise. any suggestions? franknitty69
did you use a wiring harness like a metra or schosche?
