If your unit won't turn on randomly, read this (Volkswagen GTI) and other vehicles that use.

Hey guys, I had a problem where when starting the car, randomly the unit would not turn on and the only way to get it to come back on was to pull the batter cable to reset the C2R-VW2 (VW specific)or other vehicles that use pac controllers. Also, when I would start the car after listening to the radio with the ignition on, the radio would turn off and back on.

Both problems were fixed with a Metra E5000 SPDT Relay SPDT Relay w/Socket. If anyone else has this problem and needs more detail, contact me.

Interesting.. Did you use the relay to connect a higher power feed to the radio's accessory wire ? I occasionally have the same problem with a PAC controller but had an ammeter on the accessory wire to rule out too much current draw on the controller.

In case anyone else searches in the future for systems using a PAC C2R-FRD1 or possibly other integration wiring modules see the attached tech note that was released. It explains the reason for unintended system resets along with a workaround -
