AVIC-Z140BH to 2006 Chrysler using RP4CH11

Recommended Posts

I'm attempting to connect a PAC RP4-CH11 to interface between my 2006 300 SRT (Boston Acoustics) and a Pioneer AVIC-Z140BH and I have a few questions. Some of these might be obvious but I haven't wired a stereo to a canbus system before so please bear with me. (At the moment I'm not changing amps or speakers. All of this assumes interfacing with the existing BA system)

1. The pioneer manual specifies that the Avic should be wired to it's own chassis ground. The RP4-CH11 has two ground wires. I'll definitely wire the Pioneer to ground, but should I leave the two grounds on the RP4-CH11 taped off or should I run them to ground too?

2. The AVIC main harness has a blue/white wire. The instructions state "To auto antenna relay control terminal. If the vehicle has a glass antenna, connect to the antenna booster power control terminal (max. 300 mA 12 V DC)". My car's antenna is in the rear window grid, so I assume that's what they mean by a "glass antenna". The RP4-CH11 has a blue wire labelled "Antenna On Input". Do I simply need to splice these two?

3. The RP4-CH11 has a lead labelled "P.B. Output". What the heck is that?

OK, I think I have it figured out. Feel free to point out any errors:

Left Rear - Green/Black to White/Black Left Front -

Right Rear + Purple to Gray Right Front +

Finally, using the "Bypass" hack/mod, the Pioneer Mute wire (Yellow/Black) is moved to the slot below it's original location, then it and the Parking Brake wire (Pale Green) are both grounded.

I'll hook this up tomorrow and let you know how it pans out.
