Mat.freeman
I have a great friend how has had avic stolen, just a feature thought/ looking for ideas. Just think simply once the power source is disconnected a security or unit I.D. Should have to be entered, just ever the unit is stolen without it becomes inoperable until phones in or something. Machasm
This feature already exists. Refer to the user manual (cd) that the unit came with, there are instructions on setting a password that must be entered if power is disconnected from the unit. Unfortunately one who steals the headunit probably will not know that it's password protected until it has already been stolen. Another solution is to open up your dash, bolt a piece of backstrapping (or any piece of metal) to the radio, and also to a sturdy part of the sub dash. It will be very hard to remove the unit without knowing where to unbolt this piece. This has saved my old AVIC-D3 before. My dash got destroyed when they tried to pry it out though. Wonder what's cheaper to replace, new dash or new HU ....
VBLUE42
A security password won't stop your unit from getting stollen. The thief doesn't care if the person that buys it from him can use it or not. And people are constantly setting passwords that can't remember and locking themselves out of their units. That is a 200 dollar repair if that happens. But regardless, the feature is already there as mentioned above.
tekki
Good car alarm, camera on your house watching your car cause statistics state that most robberies are from people u know, hence a DVR and CCTV at your home.
