4000 questions.

Recommended Posts

I just installed my 4000NEX a few minutes ago.  This is my first Pioneer in 25 years.

I have my backup camera working just fine.  Auto switches when I go in reverse, etc.  What I'm looking for is a way to turn on the backup camera while driving.  I tow a trailer and would like to look at it.  I don't see a way to activate a menu item for it.  I see "Camera View set to ON", seems to literally leave the entire radio on the rear camera.  I must be missing something because this seems to be an odd behavior.

Is there a way to get a rear camera menu item to switch in and out of?

I'm a little confused on the smartphone setup.  Why do you have to choose between bluetooth and usb?  With bluetooth setting, you can't use the iPod.

I was playing with the app radio mode.  Got it running fine using the av adapter on my iPhone 5S.  Is there anything you need to do to get Waze working on it?

What can I use usb2 for when I'm using usb1 for my iPhone?

Thanks for the help.

to answer your questions.

1. You can add a second camera to just watch the trailer and connected to the AV input. The radio should have 2 camera inputs. One brown input for the rear and you can use the AV inputs on the back (YELLOW/RED/WHITE) for a secondary camera.

2.Not really sure why. But I prefer USB. Better sound quality.

3. In order for you to run WAZE. You need to download the AppRadio App and Waze. Once the phone is plugged in, the app will ask you to take action. After you accept it will show up on the screen. \

4. You can use USB2 for a USB stick for media, another iphone, ipod, or android phones. But USB1 is primary for appradio and Iphones.

Thanks for the info.  I'm finding app mode to be quite glitchy.  Moving around apps causes the radio to lose connection to the pioneer appradio app.  I'm really just waiting for car play now.

For anyone else searching Waze not working, there is a "Control Waze from car unit" mode that has to be turned on in the Waze app settings menu.

You mean like pressing an icon or something to view the camera feed? I'd like that feature too. I think other Pioneer radios have it.

Exactly, just like another video input selection for the camera.  My JVC and Clarion had it.  It's kind of odd that it doesn't.

I really don't understand the point of the "Camera View Set On" feature.

Agree. The camera view setting, i think, is for when you are hauling a trailer.
