GPS reset itself

This might belong in the problem thread, but it's hopefully a one-off issue. I'm on a cross-country road trip for the last 5 days, and the gps on my 8000 has been working fine. I have my final destination in since the beginning and am adding waypoints as I go when I figure out where I want to stop each night. Yesterday though, after adding a couple random points to take me on a tour of downtown Flagstaff, AZ, I stopped for dinner, and when I started up again, the GPS did a factory reset. Not the whole radio, just the GPS. It asked all the questions it asked the first time and the volume levels and voices and everything went back to default. The weird thing is my route was still in! However the Trip Info statistics had reset so I was kind of bummed about that as I found the totals pretty interesting. The trip monitor where it records each time you drive was still there, as well as saved fuel consumption. Pretty bizarre.
