sethb
try a reset, also make sure the mic is plugged in and in the right port. will the reset "reset" all of my settings? or will i loose any saved destinations?
ducatiboy
No do a level 1 reset, which is the recessed button to the right of the eject button on the bottom-left of the unit. You will lose your saved AM/FM presets, and possibly your audio settings (sound stage and different EQ presets) stuff like that. You won't lose any nav or stored music. That will get rid of that parking brake message. Did that pop up after you did the bypass? If so your bypass is not working right. When was your Z1 manufactured? Then check this: http://www.sminntech.com/z1flash.html And double check your bypass. This makes me thing you have a July 06 or newer and you missed wired #2. http://www.sminntech.com/z1flash.html#newbypass That's what will cause what you talk about. ducatiboy
If the parking brake warning comes back (try doing something like DVD while driving, and don't pay attention to the dvd for safety reasons) and start moving and see if the parking brake warning comes back. And when you say the voice command is gone.... do you mean: #1 The voice command icon is no longer present on the screen. or #2 The voice command icon is there but when you press it, it doesn't hear you. If it's #1, then bobmum is right the mic plug is not inserted into the back of the z1 or in the wrong location. if it's #2 then the mic wire is pinched and cut somewhere. Try a new mic.
