mentalcase
I noticed today that my d3 has a slight whine when im listening to the ipod. At low volumes you can barely hear it but when you turn it up it is noticeable. It is annoying too. I dont hear it under any other input just the ipod. Any one else have this problem or a way to fix it?
mentalcase
Just sat in my car for a little while to try and figure out where the wine came from. So if anyone has the same problem here is how to make it less noticeable. It seems to be caused by the ipod when it goes into standby with the backlight. If you keep the backlight on constantly then the problem is alot less noticeable. It may kill the backlight on the ipod, but i rather have no white noise.
jpenn69
I'm having the same problem in a 2005 Ford F150 and can't get rid of the noise.
fenguin
Does the problem occur only when it's plugged in to the cigarette lighter and charging, or when it's running on battery power also?
jpenn69
I'm using the CD-1200 iPod cable plugged directly into the back of the D3 and the noise occurs whether the charging function is turned on or off.
bizkit
Just got the d3 installed and on the way home I noticed a faint hissing sound when I was playing my ipod. It went away after I changed sources. When I went back it wasn't there. Then later I think it come back.

Kingof3rdinput
Same problem, I feared this when buying the cdi200, as it has no ground. Will turning charge off eliminate this?
Kingof3rdinput
Problem diagnosed and fixed. Mine goes away when you turn off the charging feature. Just have to remember to turn it on when listening to sirius.
