AVIC Z-2 - Newbee

Recommended Posts

Hey all. I'm a newbee to the forum. I purchased the AVIC-Z2 for my 300C just last Saturday. Lovin' it so far, but surely can't wait for the in motion hack to come to a reality. I do have one question though. I tried to put some pictures into it for the phone book and to add to the back ground, but I just can't figure it out. I put a CD-R into my laptop and added a few JPEG pictures onto it. But when i put it in the AVIC's drive, it isn't readable. Any sugestions?

Lastly, are there any secrets about the unit that you would sugest? I haven't done a serious search on this forum yet, but thought I would throw that out there too. Hope to talk to you all soon.

I don't know how the Z2 works but on the Z1, you have to put your JPEGs into a folder named BG and burn that folder onto a CD-R. It should be the same for your Z2 but read your owner's manual to make sure. It's in there.

Actually, the folder should be called "Pictures" and you will also need to make sure that the CD has at last 100 mb of data on it. I usually create a folder called "dummy" and fill it with 100 mb of junk. I think that the only restriction is that there can't be any mp3 in it (or anywhere on the CD).

I know this works for the backgrounds and for the address book (waypoints) pictures. I don't know how it works for the bluetooth, or if it's a different thing, as I don't have the BT adapter yet.

Thanks for your help guys. I'm gonig to try adding a few more pictures to the CD to meet that requirement. Hopefully that will work.

Today, I noticed that I have been getting cut off from the blue tooth during conversation. Extremely anoying. I'll be talking on the phone and after about 3 min. of conversation, the BT with an X appears on the top right and I can't here them anymore. Anyone know what gives? It happens everytime I'm on the phone for more then a couple of min.

What kind of phone and how old is it? Also, where is it positioned in relation to the z2?

I have the Treo 700W and I keep it in my belt clip. Battery is fully charged.
