cntrylvr79
If you're having it installed, then why do you need to know where to find those wires? The installer will have that information.
jace93
You are gonna need to get illumination(dimmer) from your switches on either side of your cig lighter above the radio.

JasonH
I just installed a D1 in my 2007 Mustang, and a D3 the week before in a 2005. I found it's easier to use a wire tap on the illumination wire at the headlight switch. The switch pulls straight out, and if I remember correctly, the 2nd wire from the bottom on the right side of the left plug is +12 when the lights are on. I did not connect the VSS because I didn't want to run a wire through the firewall.

official_style
well i had it put in by my installer. love the unit, it works great, however i have one problem. something is wrong with the dimming, it will only dim with the parking lights on (will not dim with headlights on) and sometimes it wont even dim with the parking lights on. im thinking i should tell him to change the dimming wire to one that is on the switches by the cig lighter, as stated by someone above.
