power antenna cant be used for amp turn on?

Recommended Posts

I searched with no luck. I was reading the install manual (page6) for my D3 and it says not to use the antenna control lead as a turn on lead for an amp. Is it OK to do this or is it BS? If you can't use this, what should I use for a turn on for my amp? Ignition wire? 07 silverado classic crew if it makes any difference.

Thanks in advance.

You could use the antenna wire if you wanted to but your amp would only be on when your tuner is on (FM radio). If you switch to a different source such as CD or satellite radio then your amp would turn off. You wouldn't do any damage at all.
