ebrophy
I just recently received quote to have my D3 installed in my 03 Tahoe for $150. This shop seems like they do high quality work and have installed numerous D3's in the past. So what I'm basically asking is how much were you charged for your D3 installation? OrangeElement
$100.
cntrylvr79
Zip, zero, nada.
OrangeElement
Zip, zero, nada. You installed yours yourself, right? Tell 'em what you'd normally charge.
cntrylvr79
If I was doing the truck, probably 75. If cc was doing it. Here's the breakdown.  Ins Idnav - 159.99 - installation Ins shopfee - 4.99 - shop materials charge met gmos01- 99.99 - harness met 992003 - 19.99 - dash kit met 40gm10 - 15.99 - Antenna adaptor ins snp15 - 15.99 - Hacking up the rear dash to fit the unit  Subtotal 316.94 Tax 22.19 Total 339.13  And I always hook up vss, reverse, and illumination. Unlike some of my fellow installers. I will say this though, if there is no usable vss signal in the vehicle then no I don't hook it up, but I will explain that to the customer. OrangeElement
I'm not a huge fan of BrandSmart, but that's who installed mine for $100 flat. they did a great job, and it was installed in a 2004 Honda Element. That didn't include all the other stuff, such as bluetooth and XM NavTraffic.
ebrophy
ANYBODY ELSE?
brdnboy
150 isn't bad. Best buy would probobly charge near 400 bucks for it.
OrangeElement
wow.. $400?? geeze. I purchased a drop down monitor, and everyone wants to charge me $200 to install it. Does that sound right?
dsf3g
I was quoted about $250.00 everywhere I went. Ended up doing it myself, and am glad I did.
ebrophy
Well it looks like this is a pretty cheap price for high quality work! I'm SOLD!
installthis06
Me $100 for the labor.. bb   dash kit - 19.99  wire harness - 129.99 or 99.99 depending on whether you have bose and/or onstar.  antenna adapter - 12.99  labor (depending on the installer) - 149.99 to 249.99 (should really be 100 because of no brain.  sub1(150 in labor) 312.96 sub2(250 in labor) 412.96  tax1(7%) 21.91 tax2(7%) 28.91  total1 $334.87 total2 $441.87  If I was using the Metra GMOS-04 I'd have it installed in thirty minutes. That harness and the Metra CHTO-013 are my favorite! VSS, parking brake and reverse light all right there, saves a bunch of time.  $150 isn't bad but that doesn't include all the parts does it? ebrophy
Your right...$150 is only for the install...this place wants to charge me an arm and a leg for the other parts (i.e. GMOS-04, Pac SWI-PS, AD-GM1, etc...) but I can save close to $100 from buying online so thats what I'm about to do. I'm still in college so every penny I save goes along way.
installthis06
WOW..Was that price including the steering wheel controls? Because if it is that is a hell of a deal. I charge 100 for the labor and 100 for the parts, because I hate them. And then that doesn't guarantee that it is going to work right either...haha
OrangeElement
yeah, be cautious with installers that want to charge you for everything. There's another thread on here where the installer charged over $450 for a volvo installation of a D3, and it looked like crap.
