kimonh1
I need some help quick ! I seem to have completely lost satellite signal on the N1 : I tried locking on a signal at different locations (indoors, outdoors) ,checked the antenna's integrity ( no cuts ,scrapes ) and checked the connection to the hideway unit (it appears fine : I disconnected it to test and the display showed the disconnected status, reconnected and went back to showing no satellite signal whatsoever) _ I rely on my AVIC a couple of times a weeks but in a few days I was planning a roadtrip and was going to use this a lot. Everything else on the unit appears to work fine (EXT Source(SIRIUS tuner, Radio, voice command and remote) .The map of course seems stuck to the last location it could read. ANY ideas on this would be a huge help thx !! ??
jimmy303
First thing, try a new antenna. Rule that out first. Then double-check your VSS wire for connection and signal. If you still get no movement, the unit may have pooped out.
cntrylvr79
you said poop

kimonh1
Thanks for the info dudes- I'll try a new antenna and hope for the best-- BTW any suggestions on good deals on GPS antennas? Are there generic ones or is the part proprietary ?
installthis06
proprietary...and its pretty much 40-50 bucks. Good luck! BTW Did you have it mounted outside? Because if so, I have noticed that they last only a year or so, so throw it up on or under your dash(just not under anything metal) and you should be good for a long time. kimonh1
Yeah it's outside--I can mount it inside by the rearview--Do you think being near a SIRIUS antenna it might receive interference ?
installthis06
Nope should not
jimmy303
Make buddies with a local installer, (six-packs work wonders) and see if he may have a rogue antenna hanging around. Any Pioneer nav antenna should work, though I'm not sure a bout the one that came with the AVIC-505. Poop.
