Bartman
I currently have a pre July 2006 Z1 with the TR7 bypass (works great), I've been experiencing boot sceen freezes frequently and Pioneer says to send the unit in for repair. I may in the future upgrade the software (CNDV-700HD) and was wondering if I have the shop reinstall the Z1 using the 2 wire bypass to support a Z2 (software upgraded Z1) bypass if is is OK to retain the TR7 or deinstall. In other words, would it hurt anything to have the TR7 bypass and the 2 wire bypass installed at the same time.
bobmun
if you are going to take the unit out and do the 2 wire bypass might as well take it out as long as you arre in there.
Bartman
Problem is that if I have the TR7 de-installed and don't do the software upgrade for (6) months then my system will not longer be bypassed. That's why I was wondering if having both would cause any problems. Quite frankly, the cost of the upgrade is very unappealing (my wife is still upset about the original cost of the Z1), I was hoping the update would be free or at least reasonably priced. whtcrxghst
Just do the Z1 bluetooth update then, and it will change your Z1 to the 2-wire bypass. Then you can just do the CNDV700HD when your wife says its okay
Bartman
Great idea whtcrxghst, just ordered the bluetooth update CD from Pioneer. The dealer de-installed the unit today and is shipping back to Pioneer for repair. When they re-install the repaired Z1, they will hook it up with the 2 wire bypass and remove the TR7. Have my fingers crossed that all goes well. Thanks.
