  1. I've been having a problem for a while now with my NEX 4100 and I have been unable to solve it. During Carplay playback of music that is on my iPhone 6 local storage I will periodically have the audio volume lower itself and then come back up, exactly like what happens when a new notification comes in on the phone, except there is no notification. I don't have the problem on any other hardware I listen on other than the 4100. Has anyone encountered this, is there any solution to the problem?
  2. Okay, still happens after 1.53 update and as a bonus problem the BT does not upgrade on the radio as part of the update. Dealer has agreed to replace our unit with one of the post-CES Kenwood units coming out to see if we still have the problem with a different manufacturer radio. Pioneer really blew it with a variety of things for me including their snotty tech support. The dealer had offered to get us into a 2016 model year Pioneer unit but we will just switch to Kenwood, they seem to also be getting good reviews on Amazon, etc.
  3. Okay, my "bad". The file was able to be downloaded, a security setting in both of my browsers was refusing to download it even though I download tons of files regularly on this machine.
  4. Looks like the NEX4100 update is currently unavailable (clicking the link does nothing). It is now referencing 1.053 vs the 1.05 that's available for all other models. I imagine that customers started updating the firmware and Pioneer discovered a problem and have yanked the FW. Just letting anyone know who has the new FW but has not yet updated it.
  5. I had mine replaced after pioneer tech support insists this is indicative of a defective unit. Replacement does the same thing indicating pioneer tech support are idiots. I have not re-contacted pioneer tech support and have not seen yet if 1.0.5 has any affect on this issue.
  6. We have this problem on our 2008 MDX which was retrofitted with the 4100. Our dealer insists it is not normal. I'd say it happens at least a couple of times a week but does not happen most of the time. Definitely seems to be timing related and I've noticed it happens more frequently if I start the car and immediately put the gear selector into reverse. Not sure if a line capacitor or some other change in the wiring would buffer power to the unit and cure this. Dealer wanted to replace (but did not have any stock)... from reading this thread it seems as though this is "normal" for at le
  7. I have had similar but slightly different problems with our NEX4100 installed in June. Ours will sometimes take 1-2 minutes to boot up. The screen is simply black and none of the keys work. 1-2 minutes later the splash screen comes on and it is booting. We have also had some weird carplay behavior which has improved somewhat with the newest releases of iOS 9.1. We've tried a full reset of the unit but it didn't resolve any of the issues. Our local shop insists that the deck should never take 1-2 minutes to start powering up and have recommended replacement of the radio. Unfortunately
  8. I agree. Not particularly helpful. I was hoping for some experience from someone here who has had some hands on time. I will go ahead and swing by the shop and check it out.
  9. We have been having problems with our NEX since shortly after install. It will run pretty well for a couple of weeks and then start to periodically crash when CarPlay starts. Another thing that happens is sometimes the head unit won't start for a minute or two after being powered up. Doing a full reset seems to sort it out for awhile and then it gets flaky again. Our dealer insists none of this is normal and have offered to either replace it with another 4100 or Kenwoods new DDX with CarPlay. Does anyone have experience with the Kenwood head unit?
  10. I'm excited by your post. I have had a lot of issues with CarPlay and felt like I was the only one since so many here rave about it. I have had crashes, media playback not starting automatically when getting back in the car among other things. This has me excited to update to iOS 9 and hopefully have an improved experience.
  11. Thanks for replying. I already changed the USB cable at the outlet the installer put in and it had no affect on the issue. It could be the USB cable between the head unit and the center console but I'm a bit skeptical since the problem does not happen on 2 out of 3 iphones. Installer had already previously offered to swap the NEX 4100 for something else such as an Alpine or Kenwood unit with Carplay so I can always just have them do that since Pioneer has zero interest in fixing the problem and hinted that FW development on NEX 4100 is done.
  12. Something that's been bugging me about my NEX 4100 for a while.... I have three iPhones BT paired to the NEX 4100 but it only seems capable of knowing the last one that was paired to it, if that phone is missing there is an error that comes up after a while complaining "phone missing"... it is a bit mind boggling that it does not have the ability to simply move on to the next BT phone. My other cars have the ability to have multiple phones paired... I even have this capability on an older Pioneer deck in an old Suzuki truck we have. Is this not possible with the NEX 4100?
  13. Just wanted to go ahead and post an update. I thought it would be timely based on another thread I noticed with people reporting that Carplay was acting flaky with iOS 8.4. This is what I have tried in order to resolve the problems I am seeing which consist primarily of things going on like the head unit randomly disconnecting from my phone (didn't happen before the iOS update).... or my personal favorite, Carplay starts up (now it never auto plays my music which is annoying) I hit play on the Carplay Music screen and it acts like it is playing but there is no audio. Disconnect my phone,
  14. Yes thanks for the info, I had also seen a few people report that "forgetting" the HU and then re-connecting it to Carplay fixed the issue... others said it had no effect. Apple also released iOS 8.4.1 update today and that also could possibly provide a fix to the problem. I do wonder if Apple Music along with turning in iCloud music collection (in conjunction with this update) could have broken things. I will turn those off as well and do some more testing.
  15. So others have had this problem and doing a restore has fixed it? I see open threads about the issue on Apple's forums that indicate restoring the phone did NOT resolve the problem.
