  1. I have the 4000NEX too and have been unable to upgrade the BT firmware as described in the instructions. Like you, it appears to be doing something but in the end the version number is never bumped. So, unless we are both doing it wrong in the same way(s), there does seem to be some weirdness with upgrading the BT on the 4000. RC
  2. I did...and it did it's thing...but my BT version is (still) 3.21.30. RC
  3. Here is a fun fact... Went to update my 4000NEX last night. Have had zero problems updating to previous versions in the past. Plug in the USB drive and start the process and notice on the screen that is upgrading from 1.09 > 1.08. Surely this must be a mistake that got through QA I thought to myself. Plus, I am past the point of no return anyway so I let it complete. Sure enough it downgraded me from 1.09 to 1.08. OK, perhaps I downloaded the wrong file (I know I didn't but you never know) so back into the house I go and re-download the 1.11 firmware for the 4000NEX. I down
  4. Did you ever get an answer to this? Mine says the same thing and I am 98% sure I followed the (very simple) directions to update the Bluetooth as well. RC
  5. I was able to download the GM of iOS 9.0 a week early. Monday I drove from San Jose to Anaheim and on Thursday I drove back, The whole time I used the iOS 9.0 version of CarPlay. To begin with, like many of you, I was lukewarm on the support of CarPlay on my NEX unit (4000NEX). Some things did not work and other times it would crash - especially when using music and maps at the same time. To put it mildly, I have not been real excited about CarPlay and using it But during my trip I became much more excited about CarPlay and feel iOS 9.0, for me at least, allows me to use CarPlay co
  6. For what it is worth... I upgraded to the GM of iOS 9 yesterday and playlists / folders / CarPlay finally play nice with each other. I wish I could have recorded my reaction yesterday when I plugged in my iPhone and tried to access the various playlist folders I have - it would have been priceless. RC
  7. Broken in what way? I found initially nothing would work with Spotify / CarPlay until I restarted by iPhone and since then it as worked fine.
  8. FYI... iOS 8.3 was officially released today and with it the dawn of Wireless CarPlay for some.
  9. So far it has not. IMO, 8.2 and 8.3 are about the same. The not needing to unlock your iPhone is the only "big" feature I am aware of that I can take advantage of using 8.3 (and that is a nice one for sure.) The other difference I have seen between 8.2 and 8.3 is some messaging when I try and access my playlists that are organized in nested folders. In 8.2 if I tapped on a folder at the root level of my iTunes structure on my 4000NEX nothing would happen and it would eventually time out. With 8.3, tapping on the same folder brings up a message saying that I can "download content" but s
  10. I suspect it won't. The wireless CarPlay seems to be way more integrated into a car than an aftermarket headunit can provide. I may be wrong, but the screenshot of the iOS 8.3 beta has you initiating the setup of wireless CarPlay by pressing the "talk" button on the steering wheel of your car. Although I will try (again) the "Siri Hands Free" (or whatever it is called) button on my 4000NEX and see if that works instead. I think I tried that already and nothing happened but I can't remember.
  11. I get the sense this feature is only available in new cars and not in after-market headunits although I could be wrong. This seems like something that would need to be more integrated into a car that an after-market headunit install would be capable of doing. With that said, it would be great to have Wireless Carplay for my 4000NEX but I have gotten used to plugging in the cord and in the end it isn't that big a deal. I'd be happy to see some of the minor issues I have been seeing ironed out in the next iOS(es). Fingers crossed
  12. Don't have use for either one really but installed both just to play around with them on my 4000NEX. Both seem to work as advertised in my short beta test into work today. For those who use Stitcher - what am I missing if I already use the Apple Podcasts app for podcasts?
  13. I understand the argument and I can see pros and cons for both sides. The difficulty, as I see it, would be "how would the head unit know what to do next?" You (your brain) knows what you would want it to do but it seems like it would vary from album to album and situation to situation. How would the head unit know you wanted to go from ALBUM A to ALBUM B alphabetically versus from ALBUM A to ALBUM B of the same artist versus the countless other scenarios there are likely to be. It couldn't. While I have not paid much attention to the behavior personally, it seems like it is co
  14. +1 for me too (swipe to the left.) Very well might be a jailbrake thing. Although I kinda like the swipe down idea.
  15. View artwork?!? C'mon...now you are just playing with us. Background artwork is still as dim as ever for me using the latest update for Spotify (and any other compatible music app.) But the Spotify app itself seems to be working better for sure
