i had the same problem with my treo650(cingular) all i did was re-register the phone with the Z1 and now the bluetooth works like a charm.... i believe when i had the problem i didn't properly register the phone so if you are unsure you should re-do it. hope that helps, if not sorry.

for those that want a quick cover for the meantime, you can go to an arts and crafts store and get a foam sheet used for hobby's and stuff, and cut it the size to cover the z1 and walla, i made a cover out of a "flag" for $1 covers the z1 great looks like it belongs there. i'll post a pic when i find my camera
