About damn time. Though, they haven't really changed shit. :?

I'm glad I waited for this and not have gotten the Z2.

They have the Z3 on amazon from a authorized dealer (6ave) and once it hits their site, i'm going to use the 5% discount code and it will be around $1,200. No tax, no shipping! How cool is that!!

I was going to get a Z3 on ebay and they go for about $1,300, but if I did that, then i wouldn't have a warrenty!

The Z3 has hit the 6ave.com site here

http://www.6ave.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=PIOAVICZ3

However it is $1799.

They do have the "Pricegrabber Guarantee" which will take the price down $1314 since they will match the price from "SoundfactoryPro"

Unfortunately you will not be able to use the coupon you have since the disclaimer on the 6ave site says

Disclaimer: In order to qualify for PriceGrabber’s Best Price Guarantee, the competitor must be an authorized dealer and the price must come from its actual website as PriceGrabber “Storefronts†do not apply. In addition, the price to be beat must be listed on the merchant’s own website as well as PriceGrabber's website. The competitor’s item must be in stock. The Best Price Guarantee only applies to the current price and is valid only on new purchases made on our website. We will not beat our own price. Prices are not valid in our retail stores. 6ave.com can not honor competitor’s prices that appear as the result of typographical errors. Please note that this Best Price Guarantee can not be combined with any other promotion and that price protection does not apply.

That's weird, they have it on amazon.com for like 1,300$.

Omg, they just edited it! It's now 1,799 on amazon! lol

I just wanted to confirm and hear it from the company itself, so I called Pioneer and the customer service rep confirmed that the Z3 has ZERO hardware changes and its only a software upgrade.

This means I am going to purchase the Pioneer Factory Refurb unit on eBay and wait til an upgrade is available.

i wonder how long till the upgraded disk comes out? i know the z2 upgrade CD is around $200 right now on ebay. hopefully the z3 upgrade comes out soon for a similar price!

^^, Word, I'm waiting for the upgrade disc as well. But I will be going from a Z1 to Z3.

is there any reason why we dont just upload an image of the upgrade CD (when it comes out) instead of trying to rip out harddrives and such?

Because they are one-time use only

how can a cd be one time use only? whats the method they use to ensure that?

The medianumber and devicenumber are one-time linked, see:

click:password

Posted Apr 24, 2008 · 18:42 UTC#13

so they burn the specific password locked cd for your specific avic. i see now!

No.

The disc is generic and NOT specific to your unit.

It's more like installing Office and activating it online.

I haven't done it myself, but as I understand, each disc has a printed key (media number) that comes with it. But that's not what you type into the Z2. Instead, you insert the disc and it generates a device number specific to your Z2's ID/serial number. Then you go to the password site, type in the media and device numbers, and it gives you a serial that works with THAT Z2 only (while at the same time registers the media number/key to your device so other's can't simply type in the same media number with THEIR device number).

The z3 upgrade disk can be used for a z2? If this is possible does that mean that I will have a z3 look on my z2? z3 looks nice, just don't know if it "works" better. You guys all know the issues we have on our z2.

Of course the Z3 upgrade disk can be used on a Z2, thats what its for. As for the Z3 "look"...depends what your looking for. After a month of installing Z3s, I asked our rep why I never see the 3D icons, he said its because they are only on the east coast. So I guess if you live on the west side, all you will get is updated roads and POI, no different "look"

I think this is a bunch of crap... Why would Pioneer put out another Z with no changes... At least change the iPod...

Posted Apr 26, 2008 · 20:57 UTC#19

Because they spent all their money designing the F-series this year

Posted Apr 26, 2008 · 22:58 UTC#20

I am going to save my $200 this time and not upgrade and just wait for the F models in a couple of months... Changing out both my Navs D3 and Z1 upgraded to a Z2 getting the F series..

Are there major changes on the z3 update disk or is it just mainly a new map update?

Posted Apr 28, 2008 · 18:22 UTC#22

I notice on the website it saying you can give complex voice commands, such as "go to LAX"

combining the "go to" with POI name "LAX"

I tried and failed to do this on my Z2. Perhaps this is something they changed on the Z3?

Comments?

IF there's no differences, why does the Z3 use CD-SB10 rather than SIR-PNR2 for Sirius ?

OR is the CD-SB10 just their newst and greatest

Posted Apr 28, 2008 · 22:08 UTC#25

Is the new z3 updated out yet?
