hey wats goin on, i read alotta topics on the z1 and how you hafta buy some piece or flash your headlights to bypasss an older z1. i have a june 06 model hooked upto my parking brake and it works fine....only thing is, i read on one of the other threads that the speed sensors would lock the deck after 40 mph, so i put my ebrake up one click and went upto 70 mph to see, and it didnt lock anything out. and i see alot of people grounding out the parking brake wire, which was also the case in my old clarion, but hook your ebrake upto a light tester and youll see its a positive wire....so my question, stupid or not, is has anyone ever tried giving the praking brake wire a positive power source instead of grounding it out?

Why don't you try that out and let us know how it goes. :?:

i dont wanna try something like that without knowing the consequence, idk if itll work, do nothing, or mess the deck up. i was asking if anyone else has ever tried that or thought about that

No point if we already have well-established means of bypassing the lockouts....

Posted May 27, 2008 · 18:27 UTC#5

Well it's an interesting question regardless hyperite, although I agree that I don't see the point.

I personally have never tried the method you're asking about, but I don't see how it could do any harm. If I ever come across an extra Zx, maybe I'll toy with this and let you know, if someone doesn't beat me to it.

well besides downloading whatever software or flashing ur headlights everytime u turn the car on, what other methods do you have?

to be honest, its really just to see if theres another alternative way to bypass. and if it works im sure itd be much more convenient than flashing ur lights all the time, and much more time efficient than downloading any software. am i wrong? and i cant do it till another 3 weeks, cars bein fixed

well... updating with the bluetooth and doing the 2-wire seems a lot easier than doing additional testing to fuck with the parking brake.

Option A: It takes about a minute to download the patch. Another minute or two to burn the CDR and install it. Another couple minutes to move the pin and ground it. And we know it works

Or

Option B: You try sending power thru a wire that is connected to a $2000 piece of sensitive electronics in the hopes that it saves you the four minutes you would've spent doing it the proven way

Option A still seems like the winner to me, no?

ok, then is it possible to post whatevers needed to burn/download and install? if the pin trick is the same as bypassing a d3 then thats easy enough.

Not only is it possible, it's been done! Check the stickies and search.

listen, callme a noob or criticize my parking brake idea as much as u want, but im new on this forum...i dont have any experience with these softwares or downloading whatever, half the times i dont even know what im reading when you're all talking about the updates...all im askin for is the easiest way to be able to set destinations while im in moving and be able to watch a movie if im on a long drive. so if its too much for you to just post, on this topic, what programs i need to burn to a cdr and whatever else i need to do, then im sorry i wasted your time, otherwise thank you for helping out.

and if you read my first post, the parking brake wire is positive, so either way ur sending power thru it.

wow, can you be any more of a dick? simple suggestion and question and u gotta be a jerkoff rather than just helping out. and telling me to search doesnt help.

The thing is, hyperite (nor I) want to give you a straightforward answer because frankly, your question has been answered about a million times on this board. IF you had used the search function, which you obviously haven't, by the way, you could easily find the answer to your question, only BECAUSE it's been answered a million times.

Now, calling hyperite a jerkoff and a dick probably isn't going to get you any further than you were before. Congratulations!

And I don't think we were criticizing your idea, I for one said I'd be interested in trying it and seeing if it would work. HOWEVER, I did see that TWO members - other than myself - tried to LEAD you in the direction of the information that you were requesting. A two-wire bypass is (in my experience, along with hundreds of others on this forum) the easiest way to go about bypassing your unit. If you don't want to use the information that we give you, who are you to come in here slinging names around?

ok, well i apologize to hyperite, but his sarcastic answer wasnt exactly called for either. and my model is june 06 so the 2 wire bypass alone wont work...and i bought that circuit thing from smmtech but it didnt work, and i know its installed correctly. i did do the search (typed in 'z1 bypass') and the majority of the results were for z2's and z3's. thats why, aside from my original idea, im lookin for any answer that can help. again, to hyperite, im sorry for wat i said, i just took your answer as sarcasm and it just pissed me off.

That's fine. I understand where you're coming from but attacking the guy won't get you any further. Anyways, I'm done with that.

Try this thread out, I think method two will work for what you need. After you're finished if you need help doing the two wire bypass, refer to ducatiboy's page (where you bought the flash circuit). If you're still having problems after that, post details so someone can point you in the right direction.

Oh, and if you need a program to burn the image from the link above to disk, try ISOrecorder.

thanks for the help cap., but not to question ur information, but doesnt method 2 say its for z2 units only, and that it might even leave a z1 unusable?

well, it WAS sarcastic

also, that link above is for Z2's, you said Z1, so unless you're planning on upgrading, that download won't help you.

You need the bluetooth update and to do the 2-wire bypass. Oh, and I found that link by searching

haha, its easy to talk like that behind a screen...i already apologized to u for callin u a jerkoff and ur gonna pull that shit? ya know, all this time spent replying and givin retarded answers and u coulda jus said bluetooth update before..

Posted May 28, 2008 · 17:46 UTC#24

And ya know, you could've read the bold Stickies at the top of this section, saved two pages of worthless posts, and had your deck bypassed two days ago. So nobody is blameless here. Bypass your deck the way that worked for thousands and be grateful for the members that put that information here (and even those who put it in the stickies that nobody bothers to read)

not every1 knows as much as u possibly know so who r u to act like a jerk to anyone who knows less? u werent born with this knowledge so at one point u had to have either found a thread from some1 else, or some1 else helped you out. regardless if i "didnt search" which i did, or if its been answered numerous times, people will still ask.
