How do you mute music?
VIDEO REVIEW OF AVIC-F90BT
JasonH,
I noticed the back of the AVIC-90BT has a digital output. Can you tell me if this digital output is compatible with the Bose Amplifiers found in the Mercedes' line of vehicles. As I understand it, these amplifiers take a fiber optic medium from the receiver. I have a 2003 Mercedes clk430 cabriolet, and I am eagerly anticipating the release of the 90BT. ![]()
with the ipod did you use the usb cable you hook up to your computer or is it a new cable?
Adding one more question to the mix. Have you found the optimum image size for the splash screen wallpaper. I know that the screen size is 800x480 but when I cropped some of my wallpapers to that size in Photoshop, they come out looking a little too narrow and not wide enough to properly and proportionately fill the 16x9 screen.
Is there any way to make her stop dictating the rout on the way, not just muting but turn her off so I can listen to my music without interuptions. Then is there any way to make her not repete what you say when you are using the voice recognition? and finaly is there any way to turn off the blings and dings that are made when you push any button on the unit? I just want to have nav in case I get lost, and have a current eta time, not to yell at me on the stupid shit. Oh and at 10:26 on you'r city demo was that siren coming from the unit or somewhere else, if it did come from the unit please tell me you can deactivate that, unless it is imporntant, like telling you that someone is shooting at you. Thanks, and great review, but still looks like there is a delay with everything just like the Z2. Oh I forgot to ask, can you use your own jpegs/gifs for backgounds?
I didnt know that aftermarket companies lock out items when driving also, such as video when driving. Jason do they lock out many of the navigation functions when driving also like changing a route etc? My GM nav locks most all navigation mods while driving. I find that annoying if you want to make a change to a destination etc when stopped at a light.
I am assuming there are voice commands for the bluetooth phone options? Such as call John Smith or something of that nature.
I thought there was a usb connection on the front of the unit to actually copy music/video directly to the units hard drive?
How are the points of interest catagory searches? Can you have it show you the closest japanese or mexican restaraunts? Or shopping, and show electronics stores like Best Buy etc?

that`s a radar detector mounted on the dashboard.
not sure why it was on during the demo thou.
a question about the bluetooth phone function.
does it send tones when you call a company with an autovoice switchboard?
like press 1 to talk with sales, press 2 to talk with customer service, press 0 to talk with the reception?
Holy newbies! Read people!
Thanks for the video Jason.
Can you outline how the mute settings are setup in the AV settings menu? I'm curious what variations are available for muting the music when receiving nav instructions and phone calls.
Will the gas stations and landmarks such as fast food stops, quickemarts appear on the 700BT or is this an MSN direct service?
This HU is looking AWESOME. I am definitely going to get it. Is it out yet? also, if you plug a jump drive in (a USB drive) can you watch movies off it?

Gas stations and landmarks (in addition to hotels, stores, ATM locations, etc.) are Points Of Interest, and are included in every Pioneer navigation system. Real time updates for those, and other categories, such as current gas prices, movie times, weather, etc. are delivered by MSN Direct, and are not available on the AVIC-F700BT.

No, the F Series will be released sometime this month. Yes, you can play movies off of the USB drive, or from the SD card slot.
Yes, it does voice recognition for phones
There is no hard drive. The USB and SD hookups are for music/video

Question for Jason: Can you tell from the manual whether or not the Sirius interface shows two lines of text (using the SB10 and Sirius SCC1) or just one like how it does with the D3. I plan on getting the 90BT next week ASAP and would like to have Sirius but will go back to XM if the interface for Sirius is still crap. Thanks.

I second this.
New video up on Pioneer's site. This one is called "Stuck in traffic"... http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/Navigation
I found this video to be hilarious. Just so corny, but in a great way.
actually theres a few new videos at that site...
I know, I was just stating that the one labeled "Stuck in Traffic" was just put up there today. They have been releasing a new video every Tuesday for the last three weeks.
Jason, I was curious if you can input your destination with voice commands. I noticed in your demo video you would input with the touch screen and in all the videos on Pioneer's site I also don't see voice destination entry. It would be pretty sad with all these advanced voice features if you can't input an address with voice.
No, sorry. There is no voice command for GPS.Jason, I was curious if you can input your destination with voice commands. That seems really strange with all the other voice features it has. Do any of the AVIC decks do voice-entry GPS? I wonder if they might do it in a later firmware upgrade...

I agree, technically there's no reason they couldn't do it, if anything it would be easier because the database of words it has to match two isn't changing constantly (like on an iPod or mobile phone).
The Z Series has voice command for destination entry (although it doesn't really work very well).
