Last week I was driving, and it sounded like all of the sudden the drivers side sound wasn't working... I thought I was going crazy, and went to the balance screen, and selected balance towards the left, and I could hear sound on the drivers side speakers, it was just REALLY quiet.

Today it happened again! This time, the passenger side went quiet... so I adjusted the balance "+6" to the right, and it sounds normal again! :(

Now I have to listen to it +6 to the right, and at volume 48 instead of 40 where I used to listen to it to be full volume.

What the hell is going on?

GGRRRR!!!! Doing it more and more, now....

One day it will be the left side quiet, then the next day, the right... Maybe I need to send it in?

Have you performed any resets on the unit?

Posted Jul 06, 2008 · 20:33 UTC#4

Check all your connections behind the unit as well as at the speakers. Also, are you using any kind of factory or aftermarket amplifier(s)?

Posted Jul 06, 2008 · 22:42 UTC#5

It's an all-factory stereo, un-amplified...

I'll try the master reset later...

So... here's what I've found...

When I use the "CD" source, everything is FINE! Speakers sound great, nice and even.

As soon as I switch to the iPod, it's horrible! Balance is off, sound is distorted, and it gets worse and worse as time is going by...

:(

When is the damn update!!!!

Posted Jul 13, 2008 · 18:10 UTC#7

Sounds like wiring

Posted Jul 17, 2008 · 15:39 UTC#8

Could it be a bad ipod cable?

Like I said, every source EXCEPT ipod plays crystal clear!

Then sometimes the ipod will sound ok, and slowly get worse and worse as I'm listening. The connections are all tight on the ipod cable.

UUGHHH!!!!

If you have access to another ipod, you might want to try hooking that up and giving it a test.

Also, try turning off the "soundcheck" setting and any EQ setting on the ipod if either of them are on.

What's the soundcheck setting?

Posted Jul 19, 2008 · 14:23 UTC#11
What's the soundcheck setting?

Like he said... its a setting on the ipod. Keeps the songs at around hte same volume level. So one isnt significantly louder.

Posted Jul 25, 2008 · 05:33 UTC#12

Nope... nothing works... :(

I've tried 3 iPods now... they all do the same thing.

Do you think it could be the cable? Everything else is flawless! As soon as I switch to Ipod, it's distorted, and the balance is all screwed up...

:( :( :(

Posted Jul 25, 2008 · 05:42 UTC#13

If you've tried 3 different ipods and they all do the same thing, chances are the cable's faulty.

I'm having the same problem. Mine started after I installed the update for the 900BT. Exact same issues!

Posted Jul 31, 2008 · 04:36 UTC#15

Is yours just on the ipod source too?

It's so random, and inconsistent, it's hard to troubleshoot...

Yes it's only on the ipod source and it sounds like my left speakers are cutting out and like they have a bad connection. Everything sounded great until I installed the update from pioneer. Did you install the update also?

He made this topic more than 2 weeks before the update came out.

Posted Jul 31, 2008 · 12:48 UTC#18

Well darn I was thinking it was the update. Mine didn't have these issues until I installed the update. Any suggestions on a fix?

Posted Jul 31, 2008 · 13:10 UTC#19

Well like I said before... the most likely cause is a bad ipod cable. To make sure, if you have any friends who have an ipod you could borrow it and see if you have the same problem with it.

I do have a cousin with an ipod and wil try it but the problems started when I installed the update.

It could have been coincidence... because I didn't have ANY issues for about 2 weeks, then all of the sudden, they started.....

OK I turned off soundcheck and turned off the EQ and everything is working fine but like I said before, everything with the ipod worked perfectly before I installed the update on mine. I'm thinking the update has it's own issues.

yo...i thought i was going crazy...mine is doing the exact same thing...if i go to the balance screen and put it +5-6 towards the driver side...everything sounds normal...maybe there actually was something in the update that caused this?

as far as i remember...the rest of the sources work just fine...i think it's just the IPOD...just to be sure...i'll try another source later on today...and if it's still faulty...i'll be taking it back over to guys i bought it from and seeing what they can do about another ipod cable or something...

Dude! I honestly think it was the update. Like I said, everything was working perfectly until I installed the update. Let me know how it goes for you.

EVERY other av source is working fine except for the iPod source! it's still the only one that doesnt seem to play on every speaker at the same time in my truck...i tried contacting the place i got mine installed yesterday..but no luck...

EDIT: i went to clean out my truck a little it...and i was going to turn off the sound check and eq like what was stated in the post earlier...but everything on the ipod seemed to play fine...granted i was only out there for a bout 10-15 minutes...but everything was playing normal...we'll see how long that lasts..or if it's miraculously back to normal!
