I can't wait to get home and give this a shot!! The day has finally arrived!!! :P

Posted Jul 21, 2008 · 22:44 UTC#8

YES!! I'm gonna go install it right now. I'll let u guys know how it goes.

Posted Jul 21, 2008 · 23:44 UTC#9

Ok, just successfully installed. I have to play with it a bit more (I'm at work right now) but here are my initial findings for my f900bt:

-bootup time is the same (as stated by Pioneer, this can't be fixed)

-screen can be made a bit more contrasty and brighter. I want to check this out again when it's really bright out, because my eyes could be deceiving me.

-Ipod touch with 2.0 update still won't sync at all

-scratchy voice for guidance is fixed. The tone is fixed.

-still having trouble pairing my phone to the bluetooth (could be my phone, not sure. I have the Verizon XV6700)

Also, when installing, make sure you don't have a disc in the drive, otherwise the screen will stay black and not install anything.

youll probably be one of the priorities since its been paid for so long

Posted Jul 22, 2008 · 02:41 UTC#12

yeah hopefully. but i remember when i ordered it back in june, that i was the 10th person on the list. hopefully those ahead of me had not given their cc info!

hey guys, i've been hearing various opinions about the startup time... can somebody give me a definitive amount of time? and is the unit usable during startup? i know my friend's avic Z2 isn't usable during startup.

also, is the fact that the navigation doesn't always point north confusing to people? how are the 3d landmarks?

... i had ordered my unit a couple weeks ago before i read it was being delayed. hopefully i get it soon!

I just got my 700bt today and installed it in my 08 legacy. I was about to come on here and complain but hopefully this update will fix the issues im having.

I'm cranky that I have to go buy an SD card and an SD-USB adapter. I was really hoping for a CD-RW or USB stick solution.

oh well.

You drive an A6, have a $500 cell phone and bought HD radio. You can't afford 10 bucks for an SD card and a reader?

Posted Jul 22, 2008 · 03:40 UTC#17

The american way!

In dept with toys and cannot afford simple things.

Posted Jul 22, 2008 · 03:48 UTC#18

a 4gb sd card/reader today cost me about $40. but point being, no point in gettin cranky theres nothin you can do except buy it or dont update.

NickyD32 startup time is roughly 60 seconds. but at about 30 seconds in while the map is still loading you can play with the music. and yes youre correct about the map issue, if your in 2d mode the map will always face north. and 3d landmarks are only in the 900BT and 90BT

europe uses a different RF spectrum for radio broadcasts.

Not true. Thats what is on spec, however I have 3D landmarks on my 700. Its really cool driving through manhattan and seeing the Empire State Building and MSG on the map!

i really can't understand why the firmware wouldn't be universal.

thx pioneer for european customers...

I believe there would be different versions for Europe, Canada, and the US. Because of different POI's as well as the radio frequency thing. Also, the European models and US models don't have all the same features in them. And lastly, the European model definitely would have a different firmware update, because the part of the US update that gets rid of the "comma" issue with the text to speech won't be required with the European update.
