well thats one problem. theres another wire such as the yellow with black stripe, get that pulled out it is normally for the cell phone mute and use that in the place. you will slide it out by pushing down the little metal tab that holds it in the connector. then slightly bend it up to slide it back into the corner where you have the black wire now. then check things out.

Ya kno I didn't even notice that one. Thought maybe he did what I did and pulled the ground pin from a spare pioneer harness and shoved it in. I would definately look into that wire as the possible problem.

On a side note, mybe I should start offering up the extra pioneer harnesses I have for the ground pin.

you guys are brilliant... turned out that was the problem. i pulled out one of the wires not being used and stuck that into the corner slot and it worked!

the reason i didn't do that in the first place was cuz the place that installed my unit did that part for me, and i assumed they knew what they were doing.

but whatever, it finally works and i don't hafta disassemble my car anymore... my fingers were getting sore plugging things in and out over and over.

thanks!

Cool glad to hear you finally got it all straightened out.

But I have one question. I have seen in various places on this forum that the parking brake and bypass wire have to be grounded to separate locations. Based on this example, it looks like all the grounds can be bundled together?

Bonus question(s):
Is the VSS wire required (2003 Nissan Altima V6) for the GPS to function properly?

What about the reverse light wire?

Thanks

a good ground is a good ground, and actually you dont want multiple grounds really. the vss wire is NOT required, but will yield about 3 ft. more accurate positioning.

The reverse wire is for the backup camera function

Many thanks. Looks like I can do the install of the HU myself and get the XM ant mounted by Tweeter and then I am done. Cool. Thanks for your help.

I see you're in Oakland. Are you a member of the Raider Nation?

right on. naaa I am not a football fan really.

why not put the ant in yourself, its not hard at all.

the gps antenna will not be an issue, I already have a spot for that on the interior, I want the XM ant installed on the exterior to look professional. Only reason I am putting that outside is it needs 360 view of the sky for best reception

as you may have read already here, the ant. and xm unit functions well with it installed on the inside, though the 360 degree you mention is stated in the manual. Might be cost effective and function well to do it inside.

Thanks for all the good information/help. I just confirmed with Crutchfield my order should be arriving tomorrow. Quick question, is there any adverse effect of mounting the XM and GPS ants in close proxi to each other?

None that I've noticed. mine are about 3 inches from each other. I have had some problems in the past though with sirius antennas.
