Hi Stephanie, I decided to go the smarter route and just go with your Sci FI theme as has all the customizations I wanted (Sattelite Signal Strength icon is perfect) besdes a few things I would like to go back to original if I can (keep the Sci Fi, but without the Raptors I guess)

SDC10034.jpg

1. The Circles in red are what I would like to change. I kept the original sys.txt thinking the raptor wouldn't show, as I would like to just have the arrow. Don't know how to get the arrow back in 2d mode.

2. I wanted to put back original 3d\ Map confirmation Icons as well as the custom Delete Route icon (red button) you did.

3. And just want to get rid of the bar on top.

I am so close, I'll be done after figuring these last steps out. I am humble for any help you can give.

On another note I retook all the pics you did here on your Sci theme before I changed anything.

Hi Jascias, some things I can help with quickly -

In data.zip\ui_pioneer\800_480\ui\navigatemap_800_480.ui:

1) Delete or comment out the line with the "tag_shadow.bmp" in it

2) Delete or comment out the line with the "daycar3d.bmp" in it

3) Delete or comment out the line with the "nightcar3d.bmp" in it

4) Find the line with the id btnNMB_NAV2D and change the bmp file from my button to 746_32K_OM-011_32b.bmp#2

5) Find the line with the id btnNMB_NAV3D and change the bmp file from my button to 746_32K_OM-012_32b.bmp#2

6) Find the line with the bmp file steph_button1 and change that bmp to 746_32K_OM-013_32b.bmp#2

7) Find the line with the bmp file steph_button4 and change that bmp to 746_32K_OM-018_32b.bmp#2

In data.zip\ui_pioneer\common\ui\navigatemap.ui:

1) Search the file for all references to stephDayCar3d and delete or comment those lines.

2) Search the file for all references to stephNightCar3d and delete or comment those lines.

In data.zip\ui_pioneer\800_480\ui\scripts_800_480.ui:

1) Search the file for all references to stephDayCar3d and delete or comment those lines.

2) Search the file for all references to stephNightCar3d and delete or comment those lines.

Bonus: Unzip the attached file and drop the two bmp's into the specified direcory and it will fix the compass so it looks ok in day mode - I've fixed the alpha mask so it won't be a black bar.

And after all this - I'm all typed out! :)

Thank you Stephanie :D . That last bit of info solved everything, and I have been non stop working on getting everything just right. I believe I found a glitch on the Sci Fie theme, on the compass. Here are the pics.

As soon as I start driving it starts doing this. Its turning ok, but its ghosting. Have tried it in 2d and 3d, as well as night and day, but still the same.

Hmm I haven't had that problem. I'll play around with it a bit tomorrow and see what happens.

Thanks Stephanie, hopefully its just something small. Well here is the progress I have made so far with all of your help.

I can't think of anything else to fix right now except the Compass problem. If it can't be fixed, any idea what else can go there?

Well I'm pretty tired so I'm going to get some sleep. Again Stephanie I can't thank you enough for all your help, if you lived in my city I would gladly had took you out for dinner. (And your Cat too!)

Ok I am pretty sure I know what is wrong - I added an alpha channel to the compass file so it wouldn't be a'black bar' and although that looked good when staying still, it is the cause of the ghosting while the car is moving. The way it writes the compass updates to the screen, doesn't actually 'move' the image that's there, it just writes a new one in the same spot, and with the alpha channel, that meant the old stuff wasn't being removed, just added to.

I've attached a replacement file, this goes in the 800_480 directory and just overwrites the one that I sent earlier. Of course, you can make your own compass bmp with whatever colours and fonts you like. The only thing that is critical is the position of the indicators.

Cheers!

Yup, that was it. I gonna try as you suggested and try and make a custom compass. I'm really enjoying learning all these customizations.

Which file do i edit and where in it to change the font colors and sizes of the lower left boxes, that show time to destination and stuff.

Ok I know this is not the right area to cover this but as I was looking over the pics on the last page I noticed all of you have that annoying little DOT next to the 3D red arrow. Does anyone know what the hell that is and can we get rid of the damned thing?

Awesome, one more question. looking at the clock, what number do i change to move it up?

y z or w. I made it bigger but it overlaps the compass now so i need ot move it up some

The dot is your true GPS position. The arrow is the snapped-to-road position. If the snap-to-road is turned off, it would show you as being offroad somewhere.

I get that going into parking lots etc, the dot would show me actually in the parking lot while the arrow would bounce around from road to road trying to lock me to something. That's why I wanted to disable the snap-to-road thing. :)

y z or w. I made it bigger but it overlaps the compass now so i need ot move it up some

x=### is the value in pixels from the left side of the screen to the left edge of the text.

y=### is the value in pixels from the top of the screen to the top edge of the text.

w=### is the width of the text in pixels (handy for centring or right-justifying)

z=### is the 'layer' to get stuff above other stuff. Higher z = more visible. Useful for putting text ontop of background graphics.

h=### is the height of the text in pixels (handy for vertical alignment)

Cheers!

edited to add: All of which means, to move the text up, make the Y number smaller.

We're working on it, but it's a lot for a handful of people to undertake without some help from the community.

I used the program posted by lunar-eclipse on page 4, and Stephanies method for editing contacts to get them to work using voice activation and to reorganize them....IT WORKS NOW!!! thanks all.

For those of you that replaced your font, did you need to make any adjustments to make it look right? Is it even possible to make adjustments? I replaced mine with Helvetica because it matches the font on my cluster very well, but it doesn't line up right in most places. At the distance to next maneuver in the top left, the text is too high and gets cut off. On the screen that comes up after you type in your destination (before you click "go here now") the two lines of the address run together. I'm sure there are other things too but i just did this a few minutes ago and noticed these two things. Do I just need to adjust the X and Y of these things?

I think the Satellite Icon is super cool/functional and I've read up/down this thread. I can't seem locate the code for adding the sat. button. Can someone help me out with the code and the icons?

BTW Thanks,

hey stephanie,

in regards to your kill route button i think we have a snag now :( with the new 2.0 update i think they changed something in the scripts because i restored all of your files in to the new data.zip(2.0 version) The uniot boots up to the menu screen and the message please wait system booting keeps stayting there it wont dissapear. Also instead of the file being called navigate_800x480.ui it is now caled navigate map_800x480.ui

anybody else here have this problem?
