Uses the same workaround as the N4 did.
Correction, N5 is now blocking dvd playback.

And knows the parking brake is not hooked up correct
Just wait, I am sure someone will figure out how to bypass the system.
Anyone try the N4 two wire trick yet?
Anyone have any thoughts
Bypassing the N5 is just like bypassing the N2. Pull the sticker back on the actual flip out unit and solder the 2 pins. i cant remember the pin numbers put they are they only two points you can see under the big pioneer sticker with the bar code and serial number. after soldering the two pins just ground the green wire. i have done this a few times as I am an installer.
I JUST BOUGHT THE AVIC-N5 & I WILL DO THIS MYSELF BUT I SAW IN THE PHOTO EXPLANATION OF THE AVIC-N2 Bypass That IF YOU SLIP A BIT YOU WILL RUIN YOUR UNIT??
IS THIS THE EXACT WAY TO DO IT??

I will try it for a few days and let you know if it keeps working!

What Hole Was It You Put In There TIM? There is 3 Holes Right? Is it a CERTAIN 1?? Or Any Hole Will Work??
& Do You Happen to Have Pictures!???
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!!!
I put it in the First one. I just re-pined it with the yellow and black Mute wire that I wasnt going to use.
This is step by step what I did:
1.Take out pin with yellow and Black wire on the white harness
2.Insert Pin in the first open hole to the left of the white harness
3.Ground the light Green wire from the Blue harness and the Wire you just installed to the Black wire of the blue harness.
That should be it!!!
Drove around a bit this morning and all seemed fine... I will report back after a few more days of driving just to make sure it works.
DID THE SAME THING & IT WORKS PERFECT!
DONT USE THE MUTE WIRE FROM THE BLUE HARNESS CAUSE ITS TOO BIG!! YOU HAVE TO STEAL THE GUIDE WIRE!!
WORKS PERFECT!! THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!!!
LAST THING THOUGH, HOW & WHERE & WHY DO YOU HOOK UP THE SPEED SENSOR WIRE??????
you have to find the VSS wire on your cars ECU
You can find out that info at the12volt.com
I used the guide wire as well... as the pins are differant from the blue harness to the white harness.
For Sure! WHAT IS THE VSS WIRE FOR THOUGH??
What Does The Speed Sensor Wire Do Exactly?

It sends the signal to the Avic that tells it how fast the vehicle is going. It also provides another way for the Avic to "know" the vehicle is in motion.

I just thought I wwould throw in the bypass for my N5 is working just like stated for the N4. I have seen other posts stating that N5 is like the N2 bypass (soldering the jumper under label) and that method did not work for me
now if i could get the video working on my ipod classic 160 ill be happy
