Just a thought - you didn't have a cd in the cd drive did you? I recall this causing issues with the upgrade. If so - see if you can get it to eject - then try again.

Just a thought...

Good luck.

I'm positive, but then again if other members have been able to complete this mod I've must've done something different.. The part where I think I screwed up was I copied the entire contents of the folder which included the compressed data file, along with 5 font files..

I've never used my CD Player..

the fonts and data.zip are not what caused this. From how you described your procedure, you did it right. Did you accidentally, or subconsciously add the test mode files into the iGo directory as well?

Nope, I've even tried, re-adding the testmode folders onto my SD to see if my unit will boot up with no luck.. It's weird cause the unit will only stay on for like 20 seconds then it shuts down.

try loading the latest firmware again. I was having the same problem - with the unit shutting down after 20 seconds.

I could not get into Windows CE prior to this as I was getting an error message about mapdbinfo. I downloaded the the latest firmware and put it on an sd card and booted up the unit. THe firmware update process kicked in and installed all the files. rebooted, but I am in a constant system is starting up mode. The thing is though I can now get into Windows CE with no problems. I suspect that there is software corruption on my unit.

If you try to do the firmware, then hopefully this will allow you to get into windows CE and give you a chance to restore your backup.

As for my problem, Since I wasn't able to get into Windows CE and do a backup, I can't restore the system to a working state. I would be willing to try to use someone elses backup copy to try to restore the unit to a working state.

I tried reloading the firmware but that didn't work either. my unit is officially bricked :(

call pioneer and tell them your unit froze up. they may send you a new one.

Yea I might try that, but I bought my unit on Ebay and Pioneer doesn't honor Ebay items. The good part is that I purchased the Ebay warranty for my unit that they are going to cover it.

I spoke to Pioneer and for those that think that the warranty won't be honored if you purchase from certain online dealers here is what the Pioneer rep told me..

She said to just send it in with a detailed description of the problem and they'll fix it, because alot of people misplace receipts, or receive the items as "gifts" they cannot verify where the item was purchased so they just go by the serial number, BUT she also said that there is a $200.00 fee just to look at the unit if it is out of warranty, and if there is any problem that they'll contact you, and that's a risk I just don't want to take.

Right now I prefer to go through Ebay though, cause it's going to be alot quicker than having to ship off my unit to Pioneer.

I sent my f700bt to pioneer and told them that it was a gift, and I had no receipt and to fix based on date of manufacture. Pioneer cheerfully re loaded the software and sent me the unit back. Turnaround by Pioneer was one day.

Pioneer covered mine even though it was an Ebay item. I don't think that they really keep track or research items that are sent for service... The square trade rep told me that they did not have to pay for the repair... Pioneer said it was still under warranty Woo Hoo!!.. Already got my unit back and everything is working just fine... Hmm wondering if I should try modding again???
